Recall: 2012 Nissan Versa for transmission shifting issues

Nissan North America will recall its 2012 Nissan Versa cars according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Cars equipped with an automatic transmission can be shifted out of Park and into gear without requiring the driver to step on the vehicle's brake—a violation of federal safety standards. NHTSA says the issue involves the shifter rods and the shifter knob of the automatic transmissions for more than 36,600 Nissan Versa vehicles made from June 2011 to January 2012.
